Wear A Suit That Fits

A suit can make a great impression, but it can also make a terrible one if it is ill-fitting. Don't take a chance on your first impression, because you can't take it back. Read the following advice piece for guidance...

The idea: You want to create the appearance of a straight line from shoulder to toe. An easy option is a monochromatic outfit, but when you feel like branching out, try vertical stripes. They'll do more to elongate your frame than other patterns will, Fahrner says.

Holiday Dressing Guide For Him And Her

HIM: He likes the bow tie, but can never wear one to work? This is the perfect time to break it out. It's cool to play mix-and-match: no need to stick to strictly black and white when anything goes. Try brown and black for the modern spin on a classic tux.

Dressing For Holidays

Is your social calender already booked for the holiday season? What does your closet look like? Take the following advice for looking good during the holidays...

The holidays are supposed to be a break in our everyday lives — something special that lifts us out of the mundane. Part of what makes an occasion feel special for us, and contributes to an atmosphere that makes it feel special to others, is how we dress. Sit down to Thanksgiving dinner in a t-shirt and jeans and it feels like any other day; dress a little sharper and it feels more like a holiday.

Pack Lightly This Holiday Season

Are you traveling for the holidays? This can be the most stressful time of year to travel, made even worse with luggage restrictions. The following article explains how to pack every outfit you need in one piece of luggage.

One silk top. It doesn't take up much space, and it is worthwhile to have along for an alternate, more formal look. It can be worn under a sweater in cold weather or with pants or a skirt in warm climates. Fold in half and lay on top of the other shirts.

Layer In Style

Layering is essential in the colder months, but there is an art to it. It is not impossible to look stylish while still keeping warm.

There’s no denying it, temperatures are definitely beginning to drop now. After a fairly mild autumn it’s easy to forget how bitter a cold snap can be here in the UK, which is why we highly recommend mastering the art of winter layering before the frost really sets in.

The Little Black Dress

Nothing wows more than the little black dress, it is a classic for a reason. Holiday parties are a great time to break out the little black dress; just dry-clean and you're ready to go.

A Good Blazer Can Work Wonders

When you want to spruce up a casual outfit, nothing works better than a nice blazer.Take good care of your blazer, and you will get a lot of use out of it.

Forget the “rules” you’ve learned about wearing a blazer and wear it the way your parents would never want you to. That is, with an oversized scoop neck sweater and baggy trousers rolled all the way up to show off your non-dress socks. I mean who wants to look like an off-duty finance bro on the weekends anyway? That’s not to say there’s anything wrong with wearing the classic blazer/tie combo, but if that’s not your normal thing you can still incorporate one into your wardrobe in a way that better “suits” (see what I did there?) your personal style. I’m more of a laid-back, casual guy myself so a slouchy dressed up look is more up my alley. Depending on what you like, you can pair a blazer with a turtleneck, a casual button down, or even a t-shirt. There’s more than one way to wear a blazer so don’t think that just because you’re not wearing a tie that you can’t make one work with your look.

For The Love Of Khaki

For the most versatility and wear, look to a khaki pant. This wardrobe staple can be dressed up or dressed down with ease.

Flat front khakis will give you a leaner silhouette and also tend to look dressier. A mid-rise fit and natural waist help to create a comfortable and crisp look. A classic strait or lightly tapered leg continues a more tailored and modern look and allow for a sight break that can work with oxfords or boat shoes. The no-break look favored by some seeking a tailored mod effect can work, but it makes no allowance for error or physical changes, so be forewarned.

Should You Tuck In Your Shirt?

To tuck or not to tuck, that is the question. When is it appropriate to leave your shirttail loose? The following advice piece will show you when and how to wear your shirts....

If you’re adventurous, try the half-tuck. Tuck in half of your shirt, letting the other section fall over to the side of your belt buckle. The front-tuck, with both sections tucked behind the belt buckle (as seen on The Sartorialist), is another variation. This look falls into more casual territory, but it also has a bit of debonair flair (see David Beckham rock it) and shows that you’re comfortable experimenting. Proceed with caution, though, and trust your gut – the partial tuck can easily go wrong.

How To Dress Nicely Without Breaking The Bank

Dressing nicely shouldn't break your bank, but it can be frustrating when everything costs so much. We will take the care of your clothing that will make it last a lifetime, without using all of your disposable income. Here are some more tips on dressing nicely without spending a fortune...

Regardless of your body type, start looking for a skilled alterations tailor and learn what elements can and cannot be tailored successfully. Take a look at the work they offer and how they accomodate individual requests for difficult tasks, such as shortening a sleeve from the sleevehead. If they can do that properly, so the sleeves hang nicely without bumps on the sleevehead or wrinkles in the sleeves, chances are they can do everything else you need them to do. However, even if you find the best alterations tailor bear in mind they are not magicians. As such, you cannot buy jackets that are too long or too short because even though there might be some fabric reserve, the buttonholes and the position of the pockets can’t be changed. Also, if the shoulders don’t fit, it is going to be difficult to fix it, just like the front-back balance.

    Most Important Fall Trends

Fall is the best time of year for fashion, with weather that is so flexible for accessories and outwear. Bring your new Fall wardrobe into us for proper care, and check out the five best new fashion trends of the season below.

Stylish men are dressing down their suits like never before, and no pattern is more suitable for a casual update than chalk stripes, the more audacious cousin to pinstripes. The thicker stripe, often broken up a bit by the natural textures of woven wool, has an earthier feel, which lends itself to pairing with sneakers, chunky sweaters, or even a crewneck sweatshirt.

Look To A Dress Shirt For Warmth This Winter

Yes, something this luxurious does indeed exist and thanks to the amazing properties of some goat's neck hair, it's just as sleek and sophisticated as your all-cotton dress shirts. But it's even softer. And it's much, much warmer, but it wears a necktie just as well.

    College Professor Style For Fall

When you think of college professors, what comes to mind? Knowledge, wisdom and academia are some natural responses, but this season brings a new synonym... style. The following article goes behind the new classic preppy professor style, and what you need to know to achieve it.

So, what exactly is the “college professor” look and why is it so interesting? This classic Ivy League style can also be described as a sort of 1930s prep school teacher look. It combines two unique elements: a timeless, idealized version of the privileged life and the intellectualism of an exclusive liberal arts education.

Your How-To Guide For Quality Suits

It has been said that every man should own at least one quality suit, and that this suit is an investment. The search for a quality suit can be daunting for those unaware of what to look for. Proper care for the suit can be handled by us, but in the meantime here are a few things to look for:

If this is your first suit, purchase a wool navy one. You’ll get the most use out of it. You can dress it up or down. It’s at home in the office or out to dinner, and the jacket can be worn with a pair of grey or khaki trousers as well. If you’re completely allergic to navy, your next color choice should be charcoal or a light-to-medium grey.

Layering your clothes for style and warmth is a newer concept still, and there are many additions to Fall fashion that make this easy. Read the following advice blog for new ways to layer for Fall,

If you’re like us, you may have found yourself looking at the latest fall fashion and delighting in the earthy hues, tweedy tailoring, and autumnal color pops.  Luckily, year to year in men’s style, the sartorial shifts are subtle and what defines a stylish chap is pretty constant. It’s a given that there’ll always be the revelation of a new “it” color, a collective love of particular shoe styles by fashion editors, or a “must have” outerwear silhouette.

Proper Storage For Your Dress Shirts

What is better than a classic white dress shirt? This is one wardrobe essential that you can never have to much of, but it can be difficult to keep them fresh without proper storage. Read the following for proper dress shirt storage tips...

And let’s address the number-one culprit right now: the wire hanger. Ban them from your closet. Recycle them. They’re not even useful anymore to keep around in case you lock your keys in your car. Hang any shirt on them and you risk either rust stains (even a little humidity in the air can cause this) or, because they’re so thin, a permanent stretching of the fabric at the shoulder. (When you put on your shirt, you’ll see these weird bumps like a marionette string is attached to you from above.) Plastic hangers can stretch the fabric, too, although not to the same extent usually.

    This Season's Jackets

As the weather quickly turns brisk, we look to our wardrobe for stylish warmth. The great part of colder weather is the selection of flattering jackets available, and the following article highlights the latest jacket fashions.

Today the padded jacket has evolved into stylish outerwear that serves both form and function – akin to your ‘Highway to the Danger Zone’ ring tone.
Not only is it warm and durable, but comes in a variety of silhouettes, styles and caters to modern functionalities. Like pockets large enough to hold an iPad or even something so antiquated as a book for the gentleman and scholar.

Take Proper Care Of Your Vintage Clothing

Do you love shopping for vintage clothes, but aren't sure how to care for them? Maybe you have a ton of clothing passed down from earlier generations, and you can't wait to wear them? We have you covered!

    • The agitation of a regular washing machine, even on the gentle cycle, can be too harsh for delicate and aging fabrics. If an item has monetary or sentimental value, don't take any chances washing it at home.
    • Some vintage clothing collectors and retailers warn against dry cleaning, but Green Earth is different. Traditional dry cleaning uses harsh chemicals that can be hard on fabric, but Green Earth is safe and gentle, perfect for antique and vintage garments.

    Cotton Suit Care Tips

Cotton suits are great for their versatility and comfort, and can be worn all year, regardless of temperature. Make sure that you bring your cotton suits in for us to clean, and read the following for best care tips.

After wearing, you’ll need to give your cotton suit a chance to “rest” a bit longer than your wool suits and allow the wrinkles to fall out. Depending on the fabric, you might even need to give it a light press or steam between wearings. And just because its cotton doesn’t mean you can throw it in the wash. Don’t even think about it. In fact, forget we even mentioned it.

Make The Most Of Your Tweed

Tweed is a fabric that can often conjure images of professors and academics, but anyone can rock the look. The following is an extensive outline on how to wear and care for tweed.

As you might expect, a tough, durable fabric like tweed doesn’t need to be overly cared for. Treat it like you do your wool sport coats and suit jackets. Always hang it up. And get it dry-cleaned once or twice a year. That’s another nice thing about tweed—you don’t have to baby it.

How To Save Your Dark Denim

Do you love wearing dark denim? If the answer is yes, you probably have dealt with the issue of them fading. If you want them to stay true to color and size, dry-cleaning is your best option, according to this GQ style guide.
Fact: Denim fades with washing. Fact: If you don’t spill stuff on them, you can keep them fresh for a long time by airing them out. But in the long run, if you want them dark blue and you wear them a lot, you may have to break down and dry-clean ’em. You’re not going to lose any color, and you won’t smell like you’ve been on a six-month cattle drive.

Don't Lose Opportunities Because Your Clothes Don't Fit Properly

You may have a bunch of suits in your closet, or a ton of dresses that are appropriate for a classier affair, but are your clothes making the right statement? Don't let the money you have invested in your wardrobe go to waste, take your business attire to a professional tailor. Investing in alterations will make all the difference when trying to make a great impression.

"Let's be clear: In the big picture of ultimate reality, what you wear neither defines who you are as a person nor determines your value as a human being," says Darlene Price, president of Well Said, Inc., and author of "Well Said! Presentations and Conversations That Get Results." "However, in the temporal realm of mere mortals, fair or not, people judge us by the way we look and that includes the way we dress." Especially in the workplace, clothing significantly influences how others perceive you and how they respond toward you, she says.

The Importance Of Shaping Up Your Wardrobe

Spending time at the gym and in the salon will help mold you into the person you want to see in the mirror, but what about your clothes? Is your wardrobe in shape? Read the following from the Brooks Brothers' blog to get an idea of  how to approach altering your wardrobe.

In some ways, you need to begin thinking of buying dress shirts, sport shirts and trousers from your favorite store as step one. With shirts, especially if they’re sized S, M, L, or XL, they’re made to a general body type in that size and very rarely will you be that exact type. A tailor can create your size shirt, and give it just the shape you want, whether slim or full.

Why You Must Pay Attention To Care Labels

If a label says dry-clean only, it pays to take heed and follow the directions, especially if you value the item. The following article gives insight on why you need to pay attention to care labels.

    3. Test the detailing. Often care instructions are for the fabric only―not the accents, which may be tacked on at another factory. That’s why you see EXCLUSIVE OF DECORATIVE TRIM on some tags. Before you wash anything with beading, sequins, and the like, make sure they are sewn on (you’ll see stitches, not glue) and colorfast (quickly dab a wet cotton swab over each type of accent to see if any dye comes off).

    3 Dry-Cleaning Rules for Men

You dress to impress. You go to your job everyday, looking your best because you are the best. The one thing you may not be the best at is knowing just when to get those perfect clothes dry-cleaned so that they can continue to look the best. Below is an article on three rules for men when it comes to dry-cleaning.

Hate doing laundry? Clothing company Wool & Prince has your answer: an odorless, wrinkle-free shirt that you can wear 100 days straight without washing.
Sounds too good to be true, right? Here's the thing: Any number of fibers (like wool) can be made wrinkle-resistant, and anti-microbial fibers in garments help deal with perspiration, says Mark-Evan Blackman, assistant professor of menswear at the Fashion Institute of Technology. But that doesn’t mean you can or should wear that garment without washing it for that long, he says.
Yes, spending cash on dry cleaning is a pain, but it doesn’t have to drain your bank account. Here’s what you need to know about what to send out and when to do it to look and smell your best—without a wash-free shirt.

    Staying Green with Your Clean

Staying Green with our Dry-cleaning is very important to us. With that said, you can't help but wonder what else can be done to add some "green" into your other cleanings. Below is an article that takes a look on how to go green with your cleaning.

Cleaning products are everywhere in our homes and offices: on dishes, countertops, furniture, clothes, floors, windows, and floating through the air. In our war on dirt and germs we may often actually be making things worse.
Most of the conventional cleaning products we all grew up with are petroleum-based and have dubious health and environmental implications. Instead of opting for cleaning products that annihilate everything in their path, there are plenty of natural products and methods that keep a house clean and fresh-smelling without the toxic side effects.

    Tips on Proper Suit Care

So you just picked your favorite suit up from us, and you want to make sure that you are getting the most out of it. You know that it looks good when you are wearing it, but what can you do to make sure that it continues to look good. Below is an article on tips for proper suit care.

You’re hard at work and hard at play.  You’re cranking away, making moves and looking ever so fresh in your newly minted custom suit.  With it on, you’re sitting, walking, running, grinding and hustling all day long.  And you’re not alone.  Your suit is hard at work right there with you; a modern day coat of armor that keeps you shining.  But your daily hustle doesn’t just affect you, it affects your suit too.  So you’re thinking about parting ways with your suit for a couple of days so it can spend some down time at the dry cleaners for some thorough cleaning.
